WBRMC hires new COO

West Branch, Mich. -- West Branch Regional Medical Center's Board of Trustees yesterday voted unanimously to hire Jerry L. Worden, CPA, of Marquette, as the medical center's new chief operating officer. Worden accepted the position pending contract finalization.
Prior to accepting the WBRMC position, Worden served as chief financial officer and chief compliance officer at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, MI. Marquette General Hospital is a 315-bed hospital with a net revenue of $315 million.
"Jerry is going to be a great addition to our hospital," said Edward Napierala, chief executive officer. "The combination of his education, financial skills and experience will help us navigate the many challenges we face in this increasingly competitive marketplace."
Worden and his wife plan to move to West Branch and his tentative start date is slated for July 8.

WBRMC wins West Branch chamber's Outstanding Business Award

West Branch, Mich. -- West Branch Regional Medical Center recently was awarded the 2013 Best Outstanding Business Award in the area of "Excellence" by the West Branch Chamber of Commerce. The hospital was selected from a field of three in the category including Evergreen Clinic and West Branch Veterinary Service.
"I am very proud of our employees, medical staff and volunteers for their dedication to excellence," said Edward Napierala, chief executive officer. "Who better to judge us in this aren than the community we serve?"
John Tolfree Health System partners the Tolfree Foundation and Hospice of Helping Hands each won chamber awards in 2012.
