Cardiovascular

West Branch Regional Medical Center offers a myriad of cardiac services.

Meet Our Cardiovascular Staff

The medical center recently installed a new state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratory. Services performed in the lab include peripheral vascular imaging stenting, angiography, cardiac catheterizations, pace maker procedures, the placement of automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillators and trans esophageal echocardiography.

The new cardiac catheterization laboratory has a dual plane for both cardiac and vascular procedures. The high-quality images and resolution produced by the system has significantly increased our clinical capabilities. The system is configured with two independent imaging WBRMC Cardiovascularplanes, one designed for cardiac and one designed for vascular imaging, allowing us to select the best flat panel detector for the anatomical region of interest. This is especially helpful for patients who present multiple conditions. In one room, using one system, multiple examinations can be conducted with optimal image quality without moving the patient.

Cardiopulmonary Services offered at the medical center include: General Respiratory Care, Adult Ventilator Care, Arterial Blood Gas Analysis, Pulmonary Function Testing with Body Plethysmography, EKGs, EEGs, Holter Monitor Recording (up to 48 hours), Cardiac Event Monitoring, Transthoracic and Transesophageal Echocardiograms, Pacemaker Insertion, Treadmill Stress Testing w/ Nuclear Imaging, Treadmill Stress Testing, Pharmacologic Stress Testing and Stress Testing with Echo Imaging.

West Branch Regional Medical Center also offers a Cardiac Rehabilitation program five days per week. The Cardiac Rehabilitation department designs fitness and educational programs for individuals with heart disease in three phases. Each participant receives a program tailored to their individual needs.

WBRMC CardiovasularPhase I includes education regarding disease management and is generally done in an inpatient setting. Phase II is composed of ECG monitored exercise with supplemental education. This is usually covered by health insurance and is tailored to participants with recent heart attack, stenting, angioplasty, CABG, valve repair or replacement, heart or lung transplant, and stable angina. Phase III is a health fitness maintenance program and may be joined by anyone. A physicians order is required for entry into each phase. The staff includes both an RN and an Exercise Physiologist.

Hours of operation for Cardiac Rehabilitation are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8am to 4:30pm. Tuesdays and Thursdays by appointment. Please contact the staff at 989-343-3210 for more information.

Bringing state-of-the-art catheterization services along with the newest state-of-the-art MRI and state-of-the-art 64-slice CT scanning program is part of our commitment to delivering medical and hospital leadership to residents of Northeast Michigan.
